  • NEW SILICON VALLEY SURVEY ON TECHNOLOGY USE AND DISPUTES IN LATIN AMERICA/CARIBBEAN

    Dear colleague/Estimado colega/Prezado colega,

Because of your reputation and experience, we are writing to invite you to participate in a survey about technology-related disputes in Latin America and the Caribbean, sponsored by the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center.  Our goal is to understand current use of technology in the region, the drivers and the challenges affecting legal disputes involving rights to technology, commercial and legal aspects of technology-related transactions, and business or technology aspects of business.  We are also interested in preferences for certain dispute resolution mechanisms, chambers, and related elements.  The results obtained will serve as the basis for a series of reports and academic publications on the status of technology-related disputes.

The survey is comprised of 23 questions that cover a variety of aspects related to technology use and resolution of technology-related disputes with focus on Latin America and the Caribbean.  The survey is intended to gather information about opinions, attitudes and experiences related to technology-related disputes in this region.  We do not seek to obtain any personal information from you and will only use the resulting data for academic purposes, without identifying you individually in any way.

Although the survey questions show checkbox options for Spanish and Portuguese, they are not yet ready.  We expect to circulate Spanish and Portuguese versions of the survey in the near future.  If you would like to obtain Spanish or Portuguese versions, we ask you to kindly contact Prof. Gómez whose email appears below.  We may also adapt this survey for use in other geographical regions.

The estimated time for completion of the entire survey is twenty minutes.  You may take this survey from your desktop, tablet or smartphone and the results will be saved automatically.  Although we prefer that you fill out the survey in one session, you may also do it in more than one session to accommodate your busy schedule.  If you decide to do so, please make sure to complete it within one week.  We kindly ask that you answer every question so we don’t end up with an incomplete dataset.

If you know any other colleagues, business clients or persons who may be interested in participating in our study or who have experience and expertise with technology-related disputes, please forward this invitation to them.  If you have any questions or comments regarding this survey, please contact either of us.
